The Museo delle'Arte Mineraria protects and displays many artifacts from Sardinia's long mining history, which spans nearly 8,000 years. Ancient traders and metalsmiths mined obsidian, silver, lead and zinc around Iglesias and all over the island, and the museum was once a school where modern miners were trained. Shafts, tunnels and equipment are all preserved.
